It's time to put your "Manager / Recruiter" hat on for 3 - 4 minutes.
No more telling old war stories about your sales "Dream Team" of Eskimos in 1998, and how you sold frozen fish to polar bears in the Alaskan tundra! Blah blah blah......
Today is TODAY, and now is NOW. Let's get to work and build a winning team.
1. Success breeds success. Are you successful? People are attracted to winners because it gives them a sense of security when they join a team that knows how to win. Do you offer a winning environment for a new team member? How can you improve this?
2. Dress for success. Do you look like a winner? Would a new employee be inspired to dress better or put more emphasis on personal grooming because of YOUR example? Lead by example.
3. Teach. Coach. Mentor. Are you training your people? Do they know their competition? Do they know their products? Do they know what is going on in their external environment? Education will build confidence amongst your team.
4. Reputation. This is NOT what you think about yourself. What do other people say about you? What does your online reputation look like? Google yourself. Build on it, or fix it...
5. Follow up. Are you pursuing top talent? Do you call people back to explain why they should work with you? Remember, the person you don't hire is the one that hurts your business. Don't let your competition attract someone that you have been speaking to.
Recruiting is about leadership. Look out for the best interest of your new team and ensure their success. The right people can be the difference that you've been looking for in your business.
